GENERAL INFORMATION
The Mount Horeb Police Department seeks to recruit individuals who will internalize our values of S.E.R.V.I.C.E.in every aspect of the position. Position Description
The Patrol Sergeant is a first line supervisor position, responsible for leading and supervising police officers. The schedule will be a standard 6-3 patrol schedule. The appropriate rotation will be determined after the selection process. The current vacancy is for a night shift sergeant, 10:00pm to 6:30am. For scheduling purposes, the Patrol Sergeant position will be treated the same as is current practice, in that the Sergeant can be considered a 2ndfor shift minimum purposes, but will not be the only patrol staff scheduled to work. SALARY AND BENEFITS
The salary for this position was determined by finding an approximate midpoint between the top patrol officer’s earnings and the current Lieutenant salary. The starting salary will be $81,026.00 per year ($38.95/hour). As a non-represented village employee, this position will receive salary adjustments when all non-represented Village of Mount Horeb employees receive salary adjustments as part of the budget process. Benefits will follow the Village Handbook benefits, with the exception of holiday pay. Holiday pay will follow the union guidelines for patrol staff.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY
· Certified Law Enforcement Officer and;
· Three years of police experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or five years total law enforcement experience or;
· Supervisory experience preferred; or
· Work Experience / Education will be considered for total experience in lieu of degree

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process will be conducted as follows:
Job Qualifications Assessment -All qualified candidates will be issued an online assessment to check for skills necessary to be successful.
Written Exercise (essay) - Qualified candidates will be contacted and assigned a written assignment. Further instructions and due dates will be included once contacted.
Assessment Center – The assessment center will consist of a series of exercises, scenarios, interviews, presentations, etc. that will test the candidates’ abilities as they relate to the police sergeant position. The Assessment Center will be scheduled upon successful completion of the written exercise.
POLICE COMMISSION INTERVIEW - The candidates will meet with the Police Commission for a second interview. The questions will be structured to elicit both general and specific information about the candidate’s knowledge of the role of supervisor, as well as his or her goals and philosophy.

Police Officer
Applications are now being accepted to create an eligibility list for the position of full-time Police Officer for the Village of Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. Full-Time Starting wage is $30.66 ($31.58 starting 01-01-2023). Excellent benefits, health, dental, and life insurance. Successful applicants must have a Two-Year Associate Degree or 60 college credits from a Wisconsin Vocational Education or Technical District or its accredited equivalent from another state. Applicants must be in good physical condition, have good moral character, and no felony or domestic violence convictions. U.S. Citizen and a valid Wisconsin driver’s license are also required. Certified or certifiable with Wisconsin Law Enforcement Board is preferred.
